Many businesses and private homes have wireless routers, desktop modems, and gateways. Offering the same (or greater) performance than their wired counterparts, these terminals are still limited by bandwidth, inconsistent connections, environmental factors, and other issues. End users are restricted in what they can accomplish, and that leads to frustration with the router/gateway manufacturer, among others.

WiMAX changes all that, enabling users to accomplish whatever they set out to do without line-of-sight, bandwidth, connection, or performance issues. Now users can turn their laptop or desktop PC into a radio station that beams songs to friends around the world in seconds. Or to a television station, where homemade and other videos are streamed in real time. Full-length movies can be downloaded in seconds for concurrent viewing or saved for viewing at a later time. The possibilities are endless as router and gateway manufacturers become the WiMAX solution for all forms of computing devices and mobile devices.

But the best feature of WiMAX is that it brings broadband connections to traditionally remote areas without an infrastructure in place - and it does so simply and affordably. Imagine villages without even a single television suddenly having instant high-speed access for any device thanks to wireless WiMAX indoor terminals. This opens up previously untapped markets with the potential of millions of new users. And the barriers to entry are extremely low compared to laying copper or even fiber.

Beceem makes WiMAX a reality for the routers and gateways at the core of all these advances. Our baseband and RF chipsets offer unprecedented performance yet consume minimal power and require minimal space. They offer VoIP capabilities, tight Level 3 feature integration, and seamless WiFI integration. That means our partners gain remarkable flexibility when designing their products, especially in smaller devices such as desktop modems where space is at a premium.
