Shahin Hedayat, Chairman,

Hedayat is Chief Executive Officer and
Co-founder of Beceem Communications, Inc.
Hedayat has more than twenty years of experience
in the communication semiconductor industry,
with a diverse background ranging from
product definition and development to customer
marketing. Prior to Beceem Communications,
Hedayat co-founded Centillium Communications
Inc. where he served as President. Centillium
soared to $159 million in revenue and became
a public company within four years from
its inception. Previously, Hedayat spent
eleven years at Cirrus Logic, where he
became Vice President of Engineering for
computer telephony products, and was the
architect of V.32bis and V.34 products
that achieved multi-million unit shipments.
Hedayat earned a B.S.E.E. and M.S.E.E.
from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
and is the named inventor on 9 U.S. patents.
Babu Mandava, President & Co-founder Babu
Mandava is President and Co-founder of Beceem
Communications, Inc. Mandava has more than
twenty-two years of experience in the semiconductor
industry. Prior to co-founding Beceem, Mandava
was a co-founder of Centillium Communications,
a semiconductor company well known for product
innovations in ADSL and VOIP. At Centillium,
Mandava played a key role in the design and
architecture of the SIMD/VLIW DSP processor
that enabled Centillium to introduce breakthrough
industry-first products like multi-channel
ADSL modem and high density VOIP chips. Mandava
obtained an M.S.E.E. from the Indian Institute
of Technology, Kanpur, and is the named inventor
on five U.S. patents. Mandava has had
several articles published in the areas of
design for testability and fault tolerant
processor design.
Dr. Arogyaswami Paulraj,
CTO & Co-founder Arogyaswami
Paulraj is the Chief Technology Officer
and Co-founder of Beceem Communications
Inc. and is a pioneer in MIMO wireless
technology. Paulraj is a professor at Stanford
University, where he supervises the Smart
Antennas Research Group. Prior to Beceem,
Paulraj founded Iospan Wireless Inc., which
was later acquired by Intel Corp. He is
the author of two text books and more than
350 research papers and is an inventor
on 30 U.S. patents. His U.S. recognitions
include the IEEE Technical Achievement
Award and several IEEE best paper awards,
and is a member of the U.S. National Academy
of Engineering. Paulraj has also won more
than a dozen national awards in India and
he is a fellow of several professional
bodies including the Indian National Academy
of Engineering and the IEEE. Paulraj serves
on several company advisory boards, university
councils, and government committees in
the U.S. and India.
Rajat Gupta, GM India
Operations Rajat Gupta is
Managing Director of Beceem Communications
Private LTD., Beceem's development arm
of the company in India. Prior to Beceem,
he served as Managing Director of Cypress
Semiconductor India, where he was responsible
for the P&L of Indian operations. Previously,
he was Vice President of Technology Development
at Arcus Technology, where he developed
embedded microprocessors, analog and mixed
signal design technology to address the
emerging mixed-signal IP market. Gupta
was also Design Manager at Semi-Conductor
Complex Ltd., where he led design teams
in the development of several ASICs for
defense, space and other government agencies.
Rajat obtained his B.E. from Calcutta University
in 1980 and a master of technology in integrated
electronics and circuits from IIT, Delhi.
He holds three patents and is a senior
member of IEEE.
Dave Carroll, VP
Worldwide Sales David W. Carroll
is Vice President of Worldwide Sales for
Beceem Communications, Inc. Carroll has
fifteen years experience in the communication
semiconductor industry and is responsible
for defining, implementing and managing
all aspects of sales strategy and customer
relationships. Prior to Beceem, Carroll
served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide
Sales for Mindspeed Technologies, where
he was responsible for managing the direct
worldwide sales force as well as its sales
channel partner network around the world.
Previously, he was Vice President of Americas
Sales for Conexant Systems and held various
sales management positions for Rockwell
Semiconductor Systems. He received
a B.S. in mechanical engineering from San
Diego State University and an M.B.A. from
the University of Southern California.
Lars Johnsson, VP
Business Development Lars
Johnsson is Vice President of Business
Development for Beceem Communications,
Inc. Prior to Beceem, Johnsson co-founded
Flarion Technologies, the pioneer of OFDMA-based
mobile broadband technology. At Flarion,
where he helped spin off Lucent Bell Labs,
he was responsible for technology marketing,
the product roadmap and the business model
until the company was acquired by Qualcomm.
Previously, he worked in Lucent's New Ventures
Group driving wireless startup activities.
Johnsson received his B.S. in mechanical
engineering from the University of Hannover,
Germany, his M.S. in chemical engineering
from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany
and his M.B.A. in technology management
from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Angelo Stephano, VP
Marketing Angelo Stephano is Vice President of Marketing for Beceem
Communications. He has more than twenty
three years experience in various aspects of
the semiconductor communications business,
from engineering to marketing to executive
management. Before joining Beceem, he was
senior Vice President of Marketing at RF
Magic where he formulated the business and
marketing strategies helping the company
in a successful merger with Entropic.
Previously, Stephano was the Vice President
and General Manager for GlobeSpan, where he
led the DSL and communications processor
business with annual revenues of over $300M
securing a leadership position in the DSL
market. Before GlobeSpan, he was with
Rockwell Semiconductor Systems, where he
held the position of Business Director
managing the analog modem business unit
in retail, PC OEM, and embedded markets
securing a leadership position for the
company with annual revenues of over $800M.
Stephano started his career at Rockwell
which he joined as a systems engineer
developing V.29 and V.32 modems and
moved to product line management.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree
in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse
University, with continuing education in
engineering and business management.
