PRESS RELEASE Beceem Closes $20 Million in Financing and Accelerates 4G-WiMAX Product Developments Santa Clara, CA, April 22, 2009 - Beceem Communications, a leading provider of mobile 4G-WiMAX chips, announced today that it has closed a strategic financing round that is providing the company with the capital needed to scale production and customer support as demand for its industry leading 4G-WiMAX chips is increasing around the world. Motorola, one of the leading 4G-WiMAX solutions providers, through its Home & Networks Mobility business, joined this latest round of financing, along with existing Beceem investors Global Catalyst Partners, Khosla Ventures, KTB Ventures, Walden International and previous strategic investors Intel Capital, NEC, Mitsui and Samsung. With significant funds remaining from Beceem’s last series, the new round of financing provides capital to allow the company to fund its aggressive mobile 4G-WiMAX roadmap at a time where the demand for 4G-WiMAX is accelerating. “The Mobile 4G-WiMAX market is showing increased adoption and the time to scale for success is now,” said Caroline Gabriel of Rethink Research. “Beceem has been an early 4G-WiMAX enabler and emerged as leader in the mobile space following their success at Clearwire and UQ as announced earlier this year.
