The Beceem Communications BCS200 chipset consists
of a high-performance baseband IC (BCSB200)
and an integrated RFIC (BCSR200) for implementing
a full-featured IEEE 802.16e/WiMAX/WiBRO
Wave 2 compliant mobile subscriber (MS).
The solution supports integration of dual
receive chains and a single transmit chain
operating in a tightly coupled manner to
deliver a cost-effective, low-power SIMO
(single input multiple output) and MIMO (multiple
input multiple output) MS solution. The entire
PHY, MAC, and RF functionality of a Mobile
WiMAX terminal is implemented by this chipset.
The BCSB200 baseband IC is a highly-integrated,
software programmable, multifunction digital-analog
mixed-signal IC that implements IEEE 802.16e
scalable OFDMA PHY and MAC functionality.
Both the PHY and MAC functionality are implemented
using a combination of hardware and software
to achieve an optimal balance between cost,
power consumption, performance and flexibility.
Further, the advanced features implemented
in this chip increase throughput and indoor
penetration performance for both mobile and
fixed applications.
The BCSR200 radio IC is a direct conversion
transceiver designed for 802.16e WiMAX applications.
The IC includes completely independent transmitters
and receivers that cover the Broadband Wireless
Access bands in 2.x GHz and 3.x GHz. The
BCSR200 RFIC chip is optimized to operate
with the BCSB200 baseband IC. Terminal implementations
based on the BCS200 chipset are planned to
interoperate with any WiMAX CertifiedT SISO
or MIMO capable IEEE 802.16e/WiMAX Mobile
BS (base stations).
